Porter DeFazio - Eagle Scout from Troop #348
Porter’s Eagle ProjectOn April 16 and 23 we did the work for my eagle project. My eagle project was repairing a javalina pen at Simpson’s wildlife sanctuary. We removed tombstone roses (a giant, desert rose), weeds, rocks, and a giant stake. We put up shade cloth, surrounded the pen with rocks for support, built roofs for the smaller compartments in the actual pen, and made a bench for Mrs. Simpson so she could enjoy the opportunity of watching the animals she puts in the pen. On the 16th I had 13 people and on the 23rd, 16 people. The hours of work on the 16th added up to 43 hrs. and 50 min. The hours of the work on the 23rd added up to 76 hrs. and 1 min. The total number of work hours was 119 hrs. and 51 min. The number hours for preparing, writing stuff up, and getting donations and supplies was 17 hrs. and 50 min. The generous donators were true value, brother garner, Mr. Wren (my math teacher), ace, Wal-Mart, and home depot. From ace I got 6 8ft poles and from true value, a can of paint, 3 4” paint brushes, paint can opener, 2 one pound boxes of nails, and two stirring sticks. With all the monetary donations combined I raised $325. The donations covered the items needed for the most part but my mom, dad, and Brother Hansen pitched in money and picked up supplies.
