On Monday May 23, 2011 at a regular lodge meeting Carol Sturdevant, Frank Sturdevant and Cheryl Ponzo received Arizona State and National Elks awards.

Arturo Gabaldσn, Exalted Ruler, presented Frank Sturdevant with an Elks National Foundation pin for achieving the highest average over the Arizona State goal for ENF contributions from the Grand Exalted Ruler. Carol Sturdevant was awarded a snow globe of the world for her years of support for Arizona Elks Major Project (AEMP) as lodge chairman and South District Vice Chairman for AEMP and Cheryl Ponzo was awarded the 1st place plaque for Youth Activities Arizona state division VI Brochure Contest 2010 - 2011 and for the Best Public Relations Program Arizona Elks Association South District 2010-2011.

February 5, 2011- State Hoop Shoot registration starting at 9:00 am, with the shoot starting at 10 am promptly, and will be held at the Cactus Canyon Middle School (the AJ School Complex) in Apache Junction. The address is 801 W. Southern Ave (cross street is Ironwood), just off of US 60 (Superstition Freeway). This is the same school as last year, they’ve just changed the name of the school. We hope to have a great turnout from the four Arizona Districts and want to see lots of you there to cheer our kids on to the next meet in Las Vegas on Feb 18th. The Apache Junction Lodge #2349 will be hosting us with a light lunch, available at the school, free to all. Presentations of trophies will be given after each age group finishes its’ shoot. January 21, 2011 Friday – South District Ritual Competition Please note this was in Green Valley.  Congratulations to Sierra Vista and Ajo Lodges for being the best from South District, they will now compete in Tempe on May 12 - 13, at the State level.  The Green Valley Lodge is proud of its participation and the excellent performance by its Officers.

January 15, 2011, 11 a.m. Saturday - AEA South District Hoop Shoot at Joyce Clark Middle School in Sierra Vista.  If you have never been to a Hoop Shoot Competition this is where you want to spend your Saturday morning.  It is a lot of fun.  South District Chair is Addie Swearingen 520-458-5188.


January 15, 2011 Saturday – Elvis is alive and well, and performing in Green Valley.  This is a dinner show and you can choose between Veal Piccata or Stuffed Sole.  Price is $20 per person, which includes the tax and tip.  Cocktails at 5, dinner at 6 and Showtime at 7.  Tickets go on sale in Mid December and are limited to only 200.  Tickets go on sale Dec 29.


December 31, 2010 Friday – New Years Eve Party.  Menu choice of Beef Tenderloin W/Port Source or Honey Glaze Salmon or Marinated stuffed Chicken Breast.  Always a sell out tickets are $40 per person, paid at the time of reservation.  Lodge seating at 7 pm and Dining room seating is at 8 pm.  Desert Nights will play in Lodge room 8-Midnight, and Mescal will play in the Lounge 9 to 1 a.m.

December 1, 2010 6 pm. on Wednesday is the Elks Annual Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest at Sahuarita Intermediate School Gymnasium.  The Hoop Shoot contest is arranged in two divisions; one for boys and one for girls in age categories 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13.  Winners here will compete at the State Level.  If you want to volunteer please contact Larry Boehm's, Chairperson 829-7270


November 28, 2010 Sunday - State Soccer Shoot -  Tempe Lodge at 2320 South Hardy Drive, Tempe, AZ. will still host the state Soccer Shootout event.  Registration begins at 10:00 am. and competition to commence at 11:00 am.


November 27, 2010 Saturday – 4th Annual Car Show (in support of the Community Food Bank) it was a real blast!!  Don't miss it next year.

November 25, 2010 Thursday – Thanksgiving Day (HC) Prepare yourself for a buffet feast for only $14.95 plus tax and tip, advance reservations and payment required.  Seating 1 and 4 pm, tickets go on sale October 28, 2010. 


November 16, 2010 the Green Valley Elks Lodge #2592 presented Drug Awareness Poster Contest awards to two Sopori students. Kevin Villa from Mrs. Orozco's 2nd grade class won first place for the K-2 Division. Yaseli Mariscal from Mrs. Walder's 5th grade class won first place for the 3 - 5 Division. Each were awarded a Gold Medal and a Drug Awareness theme CD case. There were 14 Drug Awareness posters submitted by Sopori Elementary School this year. Awards presented by Jack Najar, Exalted Ruler and Jack Ponzo Lodge Trustee and Drug Awareness Chairman.


November 14 2010 - Sunday Champagne Brunch will be served from 10:00 to 2:00. This will probably be the last brunch until next April or May, the Sunday calendars will be too full to be able to work them in. There have been excellent comments on the Brunches we have held. November 6, 2010 - Auxiliary Golf Tournament at Canoa Hills.  8 am shotgun, Green fees $70 ($35 CHSI members) Open to the public. 


October 31, 2010 Sunday – Halloween – Masquerade Charity Ball in support of Elks National Foundation (ENF).  So many great ideas for masks, start preparing today for something really fun and join in the competition.  Non-spooky price of $8 per person, doors open at 4, Hors D'Ooeuvres 5 pm and dancing at 6.


November 10, 2010 the Green Valley Elks Lodge #2592 pre-sented Superintendent Dr. Virginia Juettner with a 5' X 8' American Flag for the school's flag pole. There were about 580 students that attended the presentation of the new flag ceremony. The school band played the Star Spangled Banner. GV Elk Dr. Frank Stur-devant - Americanism chairman, explained to the students about the history of the American Flag. The first graders assembled in Mrs. Sewell's classroom. Jack Najar - Exalted Ruler, Carol Sturdevant - Lecturing Knight, Dr. Frank Sturdevant - Inner Guard and Americanism Chairman and Cheryl Ponzo - Loyal Knight presented 65 first graders with miniature flags and a certificate stating that they had learned the Pledge of Allegiance. After the presentation the first graders sang beautifully "This Land is Your Land". The three first grade teachers, Donna Sewell, Tara Mulay and Erica Woodward were instru-mental in teaching these first graders the Pledge of Allegiance.

October 22-24 Arizona Elks Association Mid Year Meeting at the Fiesta Resort in Tempe AZ.  As an Elk you and your spouse are welcome to the convention, learn about the Elk programs and make some new friends.  The hotel rates are reasonable, so get away for the weekend and join the fun.  


October 17, 2010, South District Soccer Shoot-Out at Jesse Owens Park, 400 S Sarnoff Dr, Tucson AZ.  Registration 10 a.m., kicking will begin 11 a.m. Come on out and support your Lodge.

June 5, 2010 9 am to 11 am, Saturday - Meet Elroy T. Elk at the Sahuarita Club House.   Elroy is the Elk mascot for our Drug Awareness Champaign, teaching kids about this important issue.  You too can have your picture taken with Elroy. 



May 31, 2010 9 a.m. Monday MEMORIAL DAY - please join us and the whole Green Valley/Sahuarita community as we pay tribute to our soldiers at the GV Cemetery.  Lots of people will be there, so plan to be there early to get parking.  Be sure to wear a hat and lots of sun screen.

May 24, 2010 - At our regular Lodge meeting Tom Shanahan was recognized with a plaque for "Elks Memorial Service Brochure Contest."  Also, your Lodge initiated seven new members, please go out of your way to make them feel at home.

May 22, 2010 - In Tempe at the Fiesta Resort will be the Arizona Elks Major Projects 50 Years of Caring.  Celebrating 50 years of commitment to improving lives through Arizona Elks Major Projects.

May 20, 2010 Thursday (all night) - Elks volunteered to keep our kids safe at the all-night graduation party at Sahuarita High School, none of our children died that night and for that we are thankful.

February 17, 2010 6:30 pm Wednesday, Carl Crews, a representative from the travel agency will be at the Lodge to discuss the details of the trip to China.  If you ever thought of going, this is the trip to go on.

Monday, May 25, Elks placed a wreath at the Memorial Park in Sahuarita.  A beautiful sunny day to help us honor those that have given so much.

Sunday, May 24, Memorial Day Party "A Day at the Races"  It was great to see so many people participating.  A very successful Monday, May 4 - Tonight Lodge 2592 had the honor and privilege of hosting our Hoop Shoot, Essay, Soccer Shoot, Drug Awareness and Scholarship outstanding students. They are an inspiration to all of us and our hope that our community has a bright and good future.  They were great kids, a pleasure to spend time with and a joy to just watch them smile.

Sunday, April 26 - the 30th Anniversary of the Green Valley Elks Lodge 2592  was a truly special time.  Our guest was the third Exalted Ruler of the Lodge Arnold R. Peterson (PER 1981-1982).

Sunday April 12 - Easter Buffet - This event was not advertised as much as I would have liked.  But those of us there had a great time.  The food was good and the party was fun.  Please join us next time. 

Sunday March 29 - Inaugural Ball.  We danced and danced and shared with all of our fellow Elks and friends.  It was an evening of celebration and reflection.  A perfect night, for the best darn lodge there ever was.  Yes, we have work to do; yes, we have room to improve ourselves; but when looking upon the crowd, seeing our members, the auxiliary, employees and close friends, the enthusiasm was overwhelming and inspiring. 

Saturday March 28, 2009 - Installation Officers for both the Lodge and the Auxiliary.  It was a great time.  June and I appreciate all the help we have in starting this off this great year.  Special congratulations to the Auxiliary incoming president Jan Schade.  I predict that it will be a most memorable year, filled with lots of laughter and tears of joy, a time of unity and coming together in the great fraternal heart of Elks.
